It is actually made for street riding and not for racing or off-road riding, so it is only for road and daily-life riding from place to place, like work, school, or other cities.
I was also surprised by the Harley-Davidson 500 being a very special model because every year, Harley-Davidson continues to be the most prestigious and good motorcycle manufacturer in the world. And the best thing about this model is that Harley continues to invest and upgrade it every year because the latest version is always perfect and much better than the previous one.
Price of the Harley-Davidson 500
You can buy the Harley-Davidson 500 for a price of $9,995 to $10,995 which is a very lucrative and inexpensive price, not to mention the other Harley-Davidson models that are very expensive which go for a price of $20,000 and above. So, if you really want to experience a good 500cc motorcycle, then the Harley-Davidson 500 is there for you.
In addition, I will recommend you buy used Harley-Davidson 500 because there are a lot of its used sold very cheap, while in most cases, it can be for just a difference of a few thousand dollars from the original price. And the best thing is that because this model is specially designed for road riding, you will find that most of its used models are in amazing condition and almost without any damage, so consider the option of buying used Harley-Davidson 500.

Honda decided to confuse us with its four 500cc models while there are no very significant differences between these types of motorcycles except for some minor changes. I would immediately show you what each motorcycle is designed for, its pros and cons, while all the 4 models are the best in terms of performance, even more than the Harley-Davidson 500, and are one of the best-selling motorcycles in the world.
Differences between the 4 Honda 500cc motorcycles
In general, all the 4 motorcycles have the same engine, are all strong and excellent and designed for different rides, but there is a little difference of only seat height, weight, and design. Besides that, they are all the same for each other in terms of performance.
- CBR500R / Honda Rebel 500 – These two Honda 500cc models are for racing and fast riding while they are the only sports models of the 4 models. Both models are excellent for long and short rides and they are the lightest in terms of weight — the Honda Rebel weighs 414 Pound (187 kg) while the CBR500R weighs 192 pounds (423 pounds). I would recommend them more for those who want a good Honda motorcycle for racing.
- CB500X – The CB500X is designed for more fun riding and adventure. 3. Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD
The Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD is a very good 500cc motorcycle for beginners or even riders who just want to keep riding for fun. Although it has a 500cc engine, it looks more powerful.
In addition, the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD is very comfortable to ride and in my opinion, it is the most comfortable 500cc motorcycle on the list. Thanks to its style of construction that makes you sit as if you are lying on the motorcycle, which is very comfortable and fun.

You can buy the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD at a very low price of just $4,999, which is nothing for what it offers. I am not surprised to see such a low price because Kawasaki is known to be a specialist in making good motorcycles sold very cheap.
Notable features & why the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD is a good 500cc motorcycle
- The Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD feature an excellent 498cc 4-Stroke, Liquid-Cooled, DOHC, 4 Valve Cylinder Head, Parallel Twin engine that delivers superior performance and gives 32,616 feet of 7300 rpm. The max speed the engine provides is 90mph (144 km) which is very impressive, while in many cases, it doesn’t look like a 500cc engine that is really very strong compare to other 500cc engines.
- What impressed me most about the Vulcan 500LTD is the comfort of riding. Its 28.1-inch low seat makes you lean slightly, which is very special while having a weight of 439 lb (199 kg) that’s not considered heaviest and also not the easiest, which I am sure will not bother you.
- In addition, I really liked the stability when riding the Vulcan 500LTD; for this, a big thanks to its 19-inch wheel axles that provide perfect stability when riding.
Disadvantage of the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD
Unfortunately, the only downside that I found in the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD has is that when you go up from gear 2 and above, it will become much slower, especially in unstable places like a high mountain or even sand and mud, while on the road, it is not really noticeable. So, take note of that.
My opinion about the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD
In my opinion, the Kawasaki Vulcan 500LTD is definitely an excellent Kawasaki 500cc motorcycle and has everything needed for city and street riding. I would recommend it for only people who ride in the city, street or on the road and not for racing because it’s not meant for off-road riding.
In addition, if you want something more like a sporty motorcycle from Kawasaki, I highly recommend you consider the Kawasaki Ninja 500R which is a much more sporty model, which I, of course, will show you later in this post.
4. Suzuki GS500
The Suzuki GS500 is a very popular motorcycle made by Suzuki while it has a very strong 500cc engine, which I would recommend for beginners and more for medium riders who want to get a good and strong motorcycle.
It is also important to note that the Suzuki GS500 is a sport motorcycle and is excellent for off-road or even racing competitions, while there are also 2 versions of this model the GS500E and the GS500F. The GS500F is a relatively new model that came out in 2004 while the GS500E is an older and less advanced model, so always remember to buy the GS500F model.

- The Suzuki GS500 introduces an air-cooled, four-stroke, 487cc parallel twin-cylinder that delivers a maximum speed of 110mph and reaches a power of about 51 hp, which is an excellent unpaid power for novice riders and this is the best thing about this engine. That may be fast enough for you to enjoy but at the same time, be safe.

The Kawasaki Ninja 500R is another Kawasaki motorcycle we have on the list. It is a sporty model, designed for beginner riders and is just perfect. It has made huge success all over the world and is considered one of the best 500cc motorcycles on the list, if not even the best. It also offers so many technological innovations and advantages that no other 500cc motorcycle has, which makes it very special.
In addition, the Kawasaki Ninja 500R is a racing motorcycle designed for high-speed aggressive riding while it can handle every motorcycle that has engines larger than the 500cc and still beat them. - What I love most about the Kawasaki Ninja 500R is the excellent protection it offers from winds when riding at high speeds, which means you won’t get cold, and generally, you won’t be nagged by wind every time.
- Plus, the weight of the Kawasaki Ninja 500R is about 388 lbs (175 kilos) which is very light and, of course, increases speed and comfort when riding.
My opinion about the Kawasaki Ninja 500R
In my opinion, the Kawasaki Ninja 500R is definitely the best 500cc motorcycle for racing you can find in the market and it knows how to run best on highways and off-road while at the same time very difficult for city riding and overcrowded streets because it is too fast and hard to ride in the street.
But in general, the Kawasaki Ninja 500R is just perfect, showing everything a sport rider needs at a low price and I highly recommend it.
6. Piaggio MP3 500
The Piaggio MP3 500 is an amazing Cinematic designed for city rides and crowded roads on fast or slow speed while in both cases, it works excellently and has the best cinematic look in the 500cc market. It also has so many different advantages that even the best motorcycles on the list do not have.
Also, it is important to note that the Piaggio MP3 500 is obviously intended for beginner riders who want to be safe when riding on the road in town and not for riders who ride off-road because it is not meant for that. If you want a 500cc motorcycle for on the road riding, then the MP3 500 is definitely a great option for you to consider.
Price of the Piaggio MP3 500
The Piaggio MP3 500 is sold for about $8,999 which some will say it counts a lot, but in my opinion, this price is excellent because the Piaggio MP3 500 is a great cinema that you can use for a lot of purposes and some will say it has one of the best Cinematic looks in the market because it is on one side, not crazy, fast when riding on the road, and is also not slow, making it a cinematic 500cc perfect for road riding.
Also, if you want to buy the used Piaggio MP3 500, it can be a great option because most of the Piaggio MP3 500 comes in excellent condition and sold very cheap, so buying its used can be a great option too.
Notable features & why the Piaggio MP3 500 is a good 500cc motorcycle
- Perfect road engine – The Piaggio MP3 500 has perfect 493cc engine that offers 40.1 HP, which allows it to reach 60MPH in 6 seconds, but considering that the engine is relatively noisy, some people may like a noisy engine while there are those that don’t. So, it important to take note of that.
- Perfect stability – What I liked most about the Piaggio MP3 500 is that it is very stable on the road to the perfect level of its 3-wheel drive while having 2 front and one rear plus 50% more rubber from other motorcycles which is very important for on the road riding and provides a lot of stability when riding on the road. And in my opinion, the Piaggio MP3 500 is by far the most stable Cinematic in the 500cc market.
- Very durable – I was very surprised to see that the MP3 500 can be durable in different weather conditions like rainstorms and winds that not every 2 wheeled motorcycle can do, but it adapts to the 3 wheels which creates a lot of durability for all weather conditions.
My opinion about the Piaggio MP3 500
In my opinion, the Piaggio MP3 500 is by far the best Cinematic you can find in the 500cc market, while it would simply be great for a person looking for good Cinematic to ride on fast and slow roads in everyday life
In addition, if you have a car, the Piaggio MP3 500 will be very easy for you to ride because of the fact that it has 3 wheels which is very reminiscent of a car and it will make it much easier for you to learn how to ride it. So, it’s a great advantage for car drivers as well.
7. KTM 500 EXC-F
The KTM 500 EXC-F is not precisely a motorcycle but a simple dirt bike with a 500cc engine which you will be surprised knowing that it is legal for road riding. This is the only 500cc model from KMT, so don’t try to look for more 500cc dirt bikes because it is the only one they have.
In general, there is nothing much to mention because I am sure you know much about KMT and how amazing and prestigious the company is. They offer almost everything that a regular motorcycle should have and the KTM 500 EXC-F specifically has great performance on the road and also off the road, and the best thing is that it can adapt to any type of riding, from riding in the city on fast or slow roads to even the most difficult places to ride such as mountains, forests or dunes which is a very big advantage.
Price of the Piaggio MP3 500
The KTM 500 EXC-F is sold for around $11,199 which is definitely very expensive that not everyone can afford but bear in mind that KMT is a very prestigious company and its models are considered the most expensive in the market.
If you want to get the KTM 500 EXC-F at a lower price, then I suggest you buy it used while considering that its used may not be in good condition because loads of riders that have the KTM 500 EXC-F just used it roughly. So, a good option is to buy it used and simply repair it later; this will save you lots of money.
In addition, I will suggest you buy the KTM 500 EXC-F only if you really want a dirt bike (motorcycle) for racing and riding outside the field, not just for road riding because $11,199 is very expensive.
Notable features & why the Piaggio MP3 500 is a good 500cc motorcycle
- The KTM 500 EXC-F has a 510cc 1-cylinder, 95-mm 4-stroke engine with a 72mm stroke and 72mm compression ratio of 11.8 which delivers crazy speed and power, and it sometimes sounds like it can beat even 1000cc motorcycles because KMT models truly have the fastest speeds and accelerations.
- Very comfortable and light in weight – What really shocked about the KTM 500 EXC-F is its very light weight. It weighs only 232 pounds (105.6 kg) which is extremely light while most 500 SMC motorcycles weigh at least over 400 pounds which gives KMT higher acceleration then them. Also, its speed and comfort are almost better than a 500cc motorcycle container.
- In addition to the design of the KTM 500 EXC-F, it looks excellent in black and white, orange, and it blends in with the very strong aluminum frame that superbly protects it from vulnerability and damage.
Disadvantages of the Piaggio MP3 500
Sadly, I found two major drawbacks in the KTM 500 EXC-F, which are: (1) its seat is not really comfortable and too long, and (2) its headlight does not give much light. However, these two drawbacks are something that can be repaired; you can replace a better flashlight and build a more comfortable seat. So, know that they are repairable and are very small things.
My opinion about the Piaggio MP3 500
In my opinion, the KTM 500 EXC-F is definitely an excellent dirt bike for the road, street, and off-road riding but also consider its high price of about $11,199. So, just invest in it if you know you also go many times off-road and not just on public roads because if you don’t ride off-road, it is better to go for a cheaper motorcycle that is tailored for road and city riding.
8. Royal Enfield Classic 500
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 is one of the best motorcycles you can find for beginner riders. It is very light in weight and fun to ride in the city, but it is important to note that it is not a very fast motorcycle and does not have a crazy performance.
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 is intended for only beginners because it does not really deliver amazing performance but it simply delivers great performance for beginners and less good for intermediate or advanced riders.
Price of the Royal Enfield Classic 500
The Royal Enfield Classic 500 will cost you around $5,499 which is a great price, and you can also find its used sold very cheap while I myself have found great deals at less than half the original price in great condition, so you should also look for it.

The Royal Enfield Classic 500 has no impressive specifications because it is an average 500cc motorcycle, so I will do it briefly and if you want to see the full specification, you can click here.
- The Royal Enfield Classic 500 comes with a good engine rather than a 499cc power with a power of 27.2 bhp @ 5250 rpm and 30.5 kilograms of torque peaks at only 4,000 rpm which is excellent for road riding, and it manages to run superbly in the city.
- It has a very lightweight of about 412 pounds (186 kilos), has quite an ancient design and not the most impressive in the world. I am not disputing here because there are still some who like this relatively old design that is reminiscent of motorcycles from the 80s and there are some who do not.

In my opinion, the Royal Enfield Classic 500 is definitely a great choice if you want to buy a motorcycle that gives a minimal performance as a beginner rider. As I said earlier, it does not deliver crazy performance but this does not mean that it is not a good motorcycle because that the less performance is even an advantage to a beginner rider. And its very low price is definitely a great option for beginners and even old people.
In addition, if you are looking to build your own motorcycle, I would highly recommend the Royal Enfield Classic 500 because it is very easy to upgrade.
9. Motrack MG500
The Motrack MG500 is very reminiscent of the Honda 500cc motorcycle series and is one of the biggest rivals of Honda in China. The Motrack MG500 is definitely a great motorcycle for beginners and I personally absolutely love it. It is best suited for adventure and long-distance riding.
It has a pretty good space, while it can also be good for beginner and novice riders and is more geared for fun on the road and even off the road.

The Motrack MG500 is sold at a very low price of about $4,700 which is very cheap and surprising while, of course, buying a used one would definitely be a great option.

- The Motrack MG500 engine is very impressive and very reminiscent of Honda’s 500cc engines while even better than some. Its 491cc (471cc Honda) engine carried a 76mm clock and a 55.1cc/35 KW at 8500 rpm which provides excellent speed and very good performance.
- In addition, I was very surprised by the aggressive design and styling of the Motrack MG500, which I think looks a lot nicer than Honda’s 500cc motorcycles and available in different colors to choose from.
- The Motrack MG500 is undoubtedly one of the safest motorcycles for riders, especially beginners. It can be handled at any speed and, in general, it is mostly stable due to how it is built.
My opinion about the Motrack MG500
In my opinion, the Motrack MG500 is one of the best motorcycles you can find for beginners and very reminiscent of the Honda 500cc models while even better than some. So, if you are a beginner who wants to ride long-distance and adventures, then the Motrack MG500 is definitely a great choice for you.
10. Yamaha YZF-R6
I decided to add Yamaha YZF-R6 to the list even though it has a 600cc engine. This is because Yamaha doesn’t have a 500cc model and I personally can’t do without Yamaha because, in my opinion, it is the best motorcycle manufacturer.
So, if you don’t know, the Yamaha YZF-R6 is definitely one of the best sports motorcycles in the market and it’s just amazing. And the best of it is that, every year, Yamaha keeps upgrading and add improvements to the YZF-R6, which makes it one of the best motorcycle models that I personally love.

You can buy the Yamaha YZF-R6 for about $12,199, which is definitely very expensive and will not suit everyone, so take the YZF-R6 only if you are really an advanced rider who wants a good motorcycle while I would not really recommend the YZF-R6 for beginners.
Notable features & why the Yamaha YZF-R6 is a good 500cc motorcycle
- The YZF-R6 introduces an excellent simple engine and it uses the most advanced technologies you can’t find in the market. Its engine is 599cc Liquid-cooled DOHC Inline-four, 4 valves /cyl and easily traverses the 9000 rpm and 115 horsepower, which is definitely powerful. In general, I am not really surprised by the simple perfect engine it has because Yamaha has always managed to surprise me with the technologies they use in their engine.
- Plus the dimensions of the YZF-R6 are very good for racing and most people will love it. It weighs only 419 pounds (190 kilos), and its seat height is about 33.5 inches which would be great for most people with average height.
- In addition, I was very surprised by its excellent braking system — the 320mm ABS double-disc — which definitely delivers perfect braking without any problems.
- Lastly, what I liked most about the YZF-R6 is its design that looks very impressive, and in my opinion, Yamaha just did a perfect job of designing what I think makes the YZF-R6 the most beautiful motorcycle and is available in blue, white and black colors.

11. Kawasaki ER-5
The Kawasaki ER-5 is another great model on the list from Kawasaki. It is just perfect for beginners while it simply offers everything a 500cc motorcycle needs and is very reliable compared to the very low price it is sold for. In addition, the Kawasaki ER-5 is very cheap. It was even cheap in the long run because it does not require a lot of maintenance and is very easy to maintain; even its fuel consumption is not as high as others which certainly makes it one of the cheapest 500cc motorcycles you can find.
Price of the Yamaha YZF-R6
The Kawasaki ER-5 is sold for only $4,281 which is the cheapest on the list, but it is important to not let the price mislead you because its performance is absolutely excellent and the funniest thing is that if you want to buy its used, it costs the half of its original price which is very cheap. So, just think of how cheap the used one is, and believe me, I have lots of used ER-5 models at very low prices.
Notable features & why the Yamaha YZF-R6 is a good 500cc motorcycle
- The Kawasaki ER-5 shows a weight of just 394 pounds (179kg) which is super light and provides superior lightness and comfort when riding; even motorcycles over $10,000 fail to reach such light weight.

My opinion about the Yamaha YZF-R6
In my own opinion, the Kawasaki ER-5 is definitely a great motorcycle for beginners. If you are looking for a cheap 500cc motorcycle, trust me, the Kawasaki ER-5 is the perfect choice for you because the best thing about it is not only its price but also its very cheap maintenance. And as said earlier, even though it is cheap, it still offers great performance. So, the ER-5 is another great option for those who want a Kawasaki 500cc motorcycle.
Who is it meant for a 500cc motorcycle?
500cc motorcycles are designed for beginners or intermediate riders while 500cc will not usually suit advanced riders, and the truth is that advanced riders even do not want them because they do not provide crazy speeds and best performance but they provide excellent performance that is safe enough for beginner riders.
However, there are a few individual 500cc models that are a great fit for racing and meant for advanced riders while dangerous for beginner riders, so it’s important to take this into account.
