In fact, every company has its advantages and disadvantages, and it is very important that you know them before choosing the one that is right for you.

Giant Bicycles

Giant Bicycles might just be the best bike company on the market today and they are by far my favorite.

Giant Bicycles was established in1972 in Taichung, Taiwan and is known for the amazing frames they produce for many other bike companies. The most surprising thing is that there are only a few factories that manufacture their bikes all over the world.

Their most popular models are the Trance and Talon Giant. In 2018, Giant Bicycles were sold in 50 countries across 12,050 stores with annual sales of 6.6 million bikes and a huge revenue of $2 billion.

Giant Bicycles also opened another company called Liv / Giant which is aimed at a female audience and it has had huge success in the world.

Also, the company has won a lot of international awards which gives lots of experience and reliability compared to its competitors.

Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz is located in California and was founded in 1993 by Rob Roscope and Mike Marks, and they have been a huge success around the world.

The most surprising thing is that the company only produces 13 models to choose from, which is considered a very small number. The most popular and successful models of Santa Cruz are the Hightower and Nomad.

My favorite thing about Santa Cruz is that they pay attention to all the small details of their bicycles.

Santa Cruz frames are some of the highest quality available on the market today. Their frames can last you for years and you also get a lifetime guarantee so that if the frame gets damaged or scratched, you can replace it.

Also, the designs of all Santa Cruz models look amazing, and I’m sure you’ll love them.

However, the biggest downside to the company is that their bikes are very expensive and on average can cost between $1,500 to $10,000 which can deter many riders whose budget is limited.

In my opinion, Santa Cruz is a great bike company that has amazing models, and I highly recommended you buy one if you have the money.

Diamondback

Diamondback is a veteran bike company in the market. It was founded in the 70s and is located in Kent, Washington and it mainly produces BMX bikes.

In addition, the models of Diamondback are sold in many countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Its most popular and successful models are the Release and Hook and they have had huge success worldwide, but most particularly in the United States.

The prices of Diamondback models are relatively inexpensive at an average of $3,000, which is considered a relatively cheap price compared to its competitors.

I personally don’t think that Diamondback are one of the best companies you can find on the market however, they can be perfect for any rider who is looking for a cheap bike that gives good value.

Salsa Cycles

Salsa Cycles is an American bike brand based in Bloomington, Minnesota and was founded in 1981. It is sponsored by the brand company by quality bicycle products that purchased Salsa Cycles in 1997

Their bikes are known for being perfect for adventure and long-distance riding and its most successful models are the Timberjack and Fargo, both of which have been a huge success worldwide. I think they are the best bike you can find for long-distance riding.

Also, in my opinion, the best thing about Salsa Cycles is that the tires on their models are very large and on average are 3 inches wide, which gives the rider much more stability.

The frames of Salsa Cycles are made from coal and are manufactured in Taiwan. In general, the frames of their bikes are very strong and high quality.

Co-op Cycles

Co-op Cycles is located in Kent, Washington and the company is known for its bikes designed for beginners and mid-level riders.

The most popular models of the Co-op Cycles is the DRT line-up that has had huge success worldwide.

Co-op Cycles are known for their very cheap bikes that are perfectly geared for intermediate and beginners riders. Also, the price of their models range from $500 to $2,700 which makes them one of the cheapest companies you can find on the market.

Also, Co-op Cycles offers two new models, the DRT 3.1 and 3.2, which I highly recommend you check out because I think they are two of the best models the company makes.

I personally think that Co-op Cycles are one of the best companies that beginner and intermediate riders have to choose from, however, if you are looking for a strong and powerful bicycle, you will need to buy from companies other than Co-op Cycles.

GT

GT was founded in 1979 by Gary Turner Richard and is based in California and is considered a very reliable company.

In fact, GT has collaborated with Questor Partners, and continue to do so to this day.

GT bikes are very well-known for the crazy speeds they can reach and the design of the triple frame that reduces pressure from the seat.

You should also note that GT manufactures most of its bicycles in Asia and not in China like most of its competitors.

GT bikes are amazing quality and their design looks perfect in my opinion, and I recommend them to any rider who wants a high-quality bike and is willing to invest their money to buy one.

YETI

YETI is one of my favorite bike brands. They were established in 1985 and are located in Colorado, and they have enjoyed huge success in the world.

In fact, YETI was acquired by Hawin in 1995 when they experienced a financial crisis.

Today YETI produces very sophisticated bikes that have very advanced technology. Its most popular and advanced models are the SB130 and SB150.

In my opinion, the biggest advantage of YETI bikes is that they look simply amazing and I’m sure almost every rider will agree with me that their models are some of the most beautiful on the market.

However, the biggest downside to this company is that their bikes are very expensive and because of this I recommend them only to riders who want high-quality bikes at an advanced level and are willing to invest the money.

Kona

Kona are one of the best bike companies in the world today, if not the best.

They are located in Friendly, Washington and were founded in 1988 by Dan Gerhard and Jacob Heilbrun. Their bikes are known to be very high quality.

Kona bikes can fit all levels from beginners to advanced riders, unlike the rest of their competitors that create a bike for a specific audience. The most successful and popular models are the Process and Honzo, both of which have had huge success all over the world.

Also, Kona’s bikes are sold in 60 countries around the world however, the availability in stores is very low, therefore I would recommend you look for their models online.

If you ask me, Kona are one of the best companies you can buy from today and even I use their bicycles because they work perfectly.

Cannondale

Cannondale is an excellent bike company located in Wilton, Connecticut and founded in 1971 by Joe Montgomery and Murdoch McGregor. The Habit and Cujo are their most successful models.

Cannondale was acquired in 2008 by Pegasus Capital at the cost of $200 million, and that’s because the company went into financial difficulties.

Also, Cannondale manufactures excellent frames that are made from carbon fiber and aluminum that do the job well. The best thing about Cannondale frames is that they are very lightweight compared to other brands, which gives you confidence to do stunts without the fear of breaking the frame.

Ibis Cycles is one of my favorite bike brands.

Scott Nicole founded Ibis Cycles in 1981 and was privately owned by Nicole until he sold the company to a private investment company in 2000. Since then, Ibis Cycles has made popular models that have been a huge success around the world.

Ibis Cycles models are distributed in over 30 countries, and their most popular models are the Ripmo and Mojo. Their bikes are very high quality, and they give a lot in terms of their price compared to their competitors.

Also, the frames of Ibis Cycles are produced in China and they are made from steel, aluminum, titanium, and carbon. Ibis Cycles also manufactures many other company’s frames and this proves that their frames are very high quality.

In addition, Ibis Cycles has won numerous awards and competitions which gives them plenty of credibility.

The only downside of Ibis Cycles is that they only offer 6 models to choose from and the warranty they give on their bikes is 7 years, which is considered a very short time.

YT Industries

YT Industries is a German company established in 2006 and located in Hausen, Germany.

YT Industries were one of the first companies to start selling bikes in the United States and to this day they are still very popular and sold throughout the US.

The best thing about YT Industries is that their bikes are very high quality and advanced plus, their models sell at a very low price of $2,500 which gives YT Industries a huge advantage over their competitors. Their most popular and successful models are the Capra and Jeffsy.

Another advantage that YT Industries has is that they sell their bikes on the Internet so if you don’t have a YT Industries shop nearby, you have the option to buy online.

However, I have heard that there are some complaints about their service on their website so just be careful when buying on their site.

YT Industries has won lots of awards over the years and the last competition they succeeded in was the 2017 World Championships where they won second place with rider Aaron Gwynn.

TREK

TREK was established in the 1970s, and is located in Waterloo, Wisconsin.

TREK is known for manufacturing bicycles that are better suited to road riding. The biggest advantage TREK has is that they produce lots of different bikes to choose from compared to other companies. Also, Fuel and Remedy are its most popular and successful models.

Today TREK sells in over 100 different countries around the world and are especially popular in the United States, which has more than 1,700 dealers across the country who distribute the models in US. However, most of TREK’s models are manufactured in Europe and Asia, especially in countries such as Taiwan and China.

In 2014 TREK acquired the Electra Company and since then they have significantly improved its bicycle.

However, the only downside of mongoose is that the seats of their bikes are known to be uncomfortable.

Also, the most popular and successful bikes by mongoose are the Switchback and Meteors 29’R and Salvo Elite.

Specialized

Specialized is located in Morgan Hill, California and was founded in 1974 by Mike Signiard.

Specialized is a very reliable company that has been in the market for years, and is known for their very high-quality bikes that are suitable for any rider. Its most popular and successful models are the Stumpjumper and Rockhopper.

Most of Specialized’s bikes are made in Taiwan and it is well known that they got into a spot of legal and financial problems however, they managed to work their way out of those.

Nowadays Specialized sponsors a lot of famous riders, which gives them a lot of credibility.

Pivot Cycles may not be as popular as the other companies, but don’t let it put you off. Just because they’re not popular does not mean that the models they produce are not good.

The most popular and successful models of Pivot Cycles are the Firebird and Mach 6. They have created a total of 16 models, which is considered to be a fairly high number in the short time they’ve been on the market.

On the other hand, Pivot Cycles have two drawbacks – their expensive prices and the very short warranty that their bikes come with.

In fact, the cheapest models are sold for $3,800, and most of their models even cross the $5,000 price mark, which makes Pivot a very expensive company.

The warranty is very short at 10 years and not a lifetime warranty, which can be very daunting.

In my opinion, Pivot Cycles is a great company that sells very high quality bikes and as I mentioned, they are not a popular company like the other brands on this list however, it does not lower the value that Pivot Cycles provides. If you can compromise on the expensive price and the short warranty, they can be a great company for you.

Evil

Evil is a great bike brand that is located in Bellingham, Washington.

Evil bikes are excellent and and are highly advanced and provide good performance. The most popular and successful models are The Wreckoning and The Following.

Also, the price of Evil bikes are very cheap compared to other brands on this list.

The notable advantage of Evil bikes is that the wheels on its models are very well adapted to the decline in stability and they use the perfect tires for their bikes.

However, the 2 most significant drawbacks Evil has I think are the short life-span and the small selection to choose from.

In fact, Evil only has 5 models:

Also, the warranty that Evil gives on their bike is only 3 years, which is considered a very short time compared to other companies on the list.

CUBE

CUBE is a German bike company that was founded in 1993 by former student Marcus Forner.

CUBE had a very difficult beginning while Marcus started manufacturing the first bikes in a very small area of ​​the factory however, he has since had great success. Today, CUBE sells its models in over 60 countries all over the world and it produces very high-quality bikes.

The biggest advantage that CUBE has is that there is a very large selection of bikes to choose from, including dozens of different models that are fit for riders at all levels. My favorite models are the Cube Reaction GTC Pro 29 and Cube race Pro Ltd 2015.

However, the biggest drawback that CUBE has is that they only offer a very short warranty on their bikes. While aluminum and titanium frames have 5 years, all other frames have a warranty of only 2 years.

Orbea is a Spanish bike brand that was established in the 1840s by brothers Juan Manuel, Mateo, and Casimiro Orbea in Iberres, and is currently located in Malbia, Spain.

In fact, Orbea produces a lot of other products and only started producing its bikes in 1990.

Orbea has a lot of seniority in the market, including 30 years’ experience of manufacturing bikes, which gives them a lot of reliability.

Although Orbea is located in the city of Malbia, they produce most of their bikes in Portugal and China.

In addition, Orbea has plenty of bikes to choose from that can fit anyone and they offer different bikes for all levels.

All the bikes Orbea produces are good quality and offer very advanced technology and their prices vary from model to model.

Marin is based in California and was established in 1986. It may not be a very popular company but in my opinion, it is undoubtedly an excellent company that offers great models.

The most special thing about Marin is that the names given to their bikes are names of different neighborhoods in Marin County, which shows a lot of respect to the city.

Marin manufactures bikes for all types of people, from children to women, and even older people. They have lots of models to choose from, and most of them are very cheap.

Also, Marin produces a few dozen bikes each year and this year they have made very significant advancements in the technology they use, which has greatly improved their bikes. In my opinion, the best models they have released this year are the WOLF RIDGE PRO and WOLF RIDGE 9.

Rocky Bicycles

Rocky Bicycles is a Canadian company based in Vancouver, Colombia and it was established in 1981. Today, it is one of the best bike companies in the world. 

Since its inception, Rocky has released over 30 models, all of which have different characteristics that fit different riding abilities. Rocky also offers electric bikes, trail bikes, Enduro, and even corporate clothing that you can purchase on their site. Click here to view.

Rocky has also won a lot of competitions and prizes and the most prestigious award they have won is this year’s number one bike of the Bike Magazine.

Rocky Bicycles is the type of company that is not as popular as all the others on this list, however, the models they produce are very good quality and are reliable so I’m sure you’ll love them.

Felt

Felt is an American company based in California and was founded in 1991 by Jim Pillett.

Felt went through a lot of difficulties at first and they came very close to disappearing from the market entirely however, they have significantly improved their models and have been one of the strongest competitors in the market since 2001.

Felt also manufacture many other types of bicycles such as SUVs, road bikes, track bikes and more. But don’t let that confuse you because bikes are what Felt are most successful at and they know how to produce the best bikes.

Also, Felt have a lot of models at a very cheap price compared to their competition and their best models, in my opinion, are the REDEMPTION | 50 | 2020, and REDEMPTION-E 30 | 2019.

In addition, Felt have developed a lot of new technologies that they’ve added to their bikes, including my personal favourite, which is Equilink’s suspension system for fully mounted bikes.

Merida

Merida are one of my favorite bike companies. They are located in Taiwan and waere founded in 1972 by Ike Teng. Merida’s net worth is estimated at is £350 million.

Merida manufacture their bikes at their factories in Taiwan, Germany, and China and they manage to produce more than 2 million bicycles a year that they market to over 75 Countries, making them very popular around the world.

In general, the models that Merida produces are very high quality and reliable and they have over 100 models to choose from. Also, all of their bicycles can suit all types of riders.

In addition, many of the frames that Merida has manufactured have been for huge companies such as Specialized and Trek, which I think greatly adds to their credibility.
 
Also, many riders who have ridden Merida models succeeded in winning very prestigious awards. Their most prestigious award is the World Championship and Olympic Contest, which gives a lot of credibility and popularity to the company.

Trinx

Trinx is a Chinese company that was founded in 1992 and is located in Taiwan. Many of its bikes are made in Taiwan, Iran, Russia, and the Philippines.

Trinx was able to establish one of the biggest events in the Philippines in which over 5,000 people participate, thus making Trinx very popular in the Philippines and  Taiwan.

Also, Trinx markets their bikes in over 40 countries and although it may not be as popular as the rest the companies on this list, the bikes they produce are very high quality.

In addition, Trinx take part in a lot of competitions, including this summer’s 2016 Olympics.

I personally love Trinx and I think they can be great for anyone looking for good bikes at cheap prices or for beginners, however, I would recommend larger brands like Giant or Diamondback to those looking for really good racing bikes.

Shimano

Shimano is a veteran Japanese company founded in 1921 and is located in Japan however, they manufacture their models in factories located in China, Malaysia, and Singapore.

At the end of 2017, Shimano’s sales totalled over $3 billion. Most of their sales were in Asia and Europe and less so in the United States.

Shimano produce a lot more products besides bikes however, in my opinion, Shimano are experts in manufacturing bike despite the fact that most of their bicycles are much more popular and successful in China and Asia.

In addition, Shimano always manages to produce new technologies. My favorite technology was in 1985 when Shimano introduced the SIS machine, Shimano Index System, and also driving engines 8-9-10.

In my opinion, Shimano is an excellent manufacturer of bikes and they currently offer a lot of different types, so I’m sure you’ll be able to find one to suit you.

Devinci

Devinci is a Canadian brand established in 1987 and they manufacture lots of bike types like road bikes, trail bikes, protective gear and even skiing and snowboarding equipment, but it is bikes that they produce most successfully.

Also, Devinci is known for providing lots of docking stations and bicycles for rent all over Europe. It has started to set up docking stations for Barclays where they put up about 5,000 bikes and currently Devinci has over 10,000 bikes all over London.

Also, most of Devinci’s manufacturing is done in Chicoutimi, Hawaii, where its factories are very large and include a huge 100,000 square feet and they have more than 100 employees.

Devinci has won a lot of Various awards, their best being the Freeride Magazine’s 26th Bike of the Year award.

Also, Devinci has created a lot of different bikes that are very cheap and I think the best models they have created are the Santa Cruz Bicycles Tallboy CC X01 Reserve and Santa Cruz Bicycles Bronson CC X01 Complete.

A very big advantage to Devinci is that they produce lots of different protective gear so you can get a discount if you buy both bikes and protective gear. They also offer lots of discounts on their models.

Gary Fisher

Gary Fisher is a very popular and well-known bike company and in fact, Gary Fisher invented it. The company is known to have developed a lot of new technologies and they developed the concept of race bikes.

Gary Fisher was a genius on the subject of bicycles and he managed the company between 1970 and 1990 until ownership moved to TREK.

Gary Fisher’s manufacturing plants are found in many different cities throughout China and they offer great frames made from carbon, carbon monocoque, and aluminium. The best thing is that you can make a custom frame order that will come straight to you from their factories but with it Gary Fisher does not customize bikes.

Gary Fisher have lots of different models that are sold at very cheap prices and their close collaborations with TREK is reassuring that TREK’s bikes are built on Gary Fisher’s technology.

KHS Bicycles

KHS is an excellent brand founded in 1974 that operates in the United States and Taiwan. It now produces many different types of bikes such as road bikes, tandem bikes, cruiser bikes and more however, bikes are the main product that KHS produces.

KHS is currently marketing to over 30 different countries and it has been able to produce more than 90 models. Their factories in Taiwan have more than 100 workers who manage to produce more than 130,000 bicycles each year.

KHS bikes are one of the best in my opinion. They’re reliable, high-quality, beautiful and give everything that riders need. My favorite models are the DH 650 TEAM and DH 650 PRO.

Also, KHS has won numerous awards and other competitions including the Bike Magazine of the Year award in 1992 and they also won the Editor’s Choice Award in 1997.

Focus

Focus is a German manufacturer that was founded in 1993 by Mike Close, who was the then World Champion in cyclocross. Currently, Focus is located in Kloppenburg and manufactures e-bikes, racing bikes, and bikes.

Focus is truly a great company that makes a lot of bike types and I would personally recommend them to racing riders, even though they are relatively new to the market having only started making racing bikes in 2003.

In addition, Focus manufactures excellent quality bicycle frames and they only started producing their first carbon fibre frames in 2006 and since then they have been very advanced in developing their frames.

Also, Focus recently started making amazing Electron bicycles and I would highly recommend that you watch them. Focus bikes are very high quality and are one of my favorites. I love the JAM² 6.8 PLUS and JAM² 6.7 PLUS.

Most Focus bikes can only withstand weights of between 100-120 pounds so I wouldn’t recommend these bikes if you weigh more than that.

The only downside I found to Focus is that they are only known in the US, UK, and Australia so if you don’t live in one of those places it is harder for you to get your hands on a Focus bike. Iron Horse

Iron Horse was founded in 1987 and is located in Inia, New York, and is known as the Ferrari bike because their logo is very similar to Ferrari’s.

The years of operation of Iron Horse was from 1987 to 2009 and since then they have stopped producing new bike models however, most of its models are still marketed all over the world and you can also buy their bikes at lots of stores all over the internet.

Iron Horse closed down because it owed duties of more than $5 million and then Doral Industries bought them for $5.3 million.

The Iron Horse bikes are very high quality and offer a very strong frame, amazing design, mao wet stability and many other great features. The best Iron Horse models, in my opinion, are the PHOENIX 1.1 and PHOENIX 1.3W.

The biggest downside to these Iron Horse models is that they have no gears, which makes it very difficult to ride, especially when you are riding a descent where the speed is very high and you have no gears to help you slow down, which can be very dangerous.

Phoenix

Phoenix is ​​an excellent bike company based in Shanghai and it was established in 1958, which makes it a veteran in the market.

Phoenix currently markets to over 50 different countries and they earn over $60 million each year. In 2017 they produced about 5 million bikes.

In addition, Phoenix manufactures many other types of bicycles such as leisure, racing, electric bikes, folding bikes, and more but in my opinion, they are best at producing bikes.

What is the best way to buy a bike?

All of the companies I showed you today have online stores where you can order their models directly.

However, ordering from the Internet doesn’t suit everyone because it can be more expensive due the shipping cost.

It can also be very annoying if you do not like the bike you bought.

Most of the popular companies I showed you can be found in the local bike shops in your town.

But if you want another company that is not stocked in your city then I would highly recommend you buy your bike over the internet.

In my opinion, the best way you can buy a bike is to buy a used one because not only are used bikes a lot cheaper, there is usually not a significant difference between used bicycles and new bicycles. So, if you are ready to compromise, used bicycles can be a great option for you.

How do I choose a bike company that’s right for me?

So, after showing you all the best bike brands in the world, you will probably ask, “which company should I choose?”

I personally think that Giant Bicycles and Santa Cruz are the best companies you can buy from however, their models are very expensive and not suitable for everyone and because of that it is very important that you choose the brand that suits your personal needs.

For example

If you are a beginner rider and want a cheap but good bike, then TREK will be a great choice for you.

If you are a professional rider who needs a very high-quality bike then Giant can be a great option for you.

If you want bike models that offer advanced technologies then YETI can be a great company for you.

You need to remember that every company has characteristics that make it unique and you will always choose a brand based on the personal features it has, and not what is more popular in the market.
