Pros of a dirt bike

Dirt bike riding improve mental and physical health

In my opinion, the biggest advantage of dirt bikes is by far the mental and physical health improvement they render.

So, does dirt biking helps your physical health? for some reason, a lot of people don’t think dirt biking helps their physical health. But you’ll be surprised that riding on a dirt bike is one of the best things you can do for your physical health.

You need to understanding that dirt biking requires a lot of effort from your leg muscles, abdomen, hands, and more. And the truth is that dirt bikes are designed for riding in the field where you will burn more calories and spend a lot more effort than riding a regular motorcycle. This makes dirt bikes one of the bests riding machines you can ride on to get in shape.

So, does dirt biking helps your mental health? The simple answer is yes. In addition to improving your physical health, dirt biking also help improve your mental health. It has been proven that motorcycle riding releases hormones that help your nervous system feel better, which in turn improves your mood. And beyond that, dirt biking is fun. Think about it that the only thing you have for fun is a dirt bike and you can do whatever you want. That’s why it’s really one of the best things you can do to feel better.

In summary, here are the physical and mental benefits of dirt bikes

  • Burns calories
  • Endurance
  • Increased pulse rate
  • Improves stability and balance
  • Provides varied versions of fitness exercises
  • Good posture
  • Make you feel happy
  • Releasing hormones

Dirt bike riding is fun

Riding on a dirt bike is one of the most fun things you can do in your life. It’s just you and the terrain and you can ride at the highest speeds you just want, do stunts, and ride long distances wherever you want, as opposed to the regular motorcycle where you are very limited in your riding and you can’t ride at the highest speeds and certainly not do crazy road stunts.

Dirt bike is cool

Dirt bike is very cool. You look very cool together with the protective helmet and dirt bike looks very impressive.

In addition, you can take very cool photos and videos with your dirt bike and upload them on YouTube and Instagram, which is very cool in my opinion even more than the regular motorcycle.

You will get some experience on two wheels

If you wish to buy a motorcycle later, the best thing you can do before you ride a motorcycle is to train on dirt bikes. This is because dirt bikes will give you lots of experience in the field, you will learn how to work with a two-wheeled machine, you will know how to operate in the field. All these will make it easier for you to drive a regular motorcycle on the road and, most importantly, reduce your risk of an accident.

Lightweight and comfortable for riding

A very big advantage of having dirt bikes is their lightweight. I do not laugh dirt bikes because they are the lightest type of motorcycles on the market and the most comfortable there is, which will make you have no problem riding even in the most difficult areas.

Dirt bikes are safer than most machines

Yes, dirt bikes are relatively dangerous just like any other machine but if you look at this for a moment, riding a dirt bike will be much safer than most other machines such as ATVs or motorcycles, for example.

I know this is surprising, but you need to understand that you are more likely to crash with dirt bikes. However, the truth is that if you will crash, it most likely won’t be so bad and life-threatening. And if you keep the safety rules, nothing serious will happen to you.

Here are some interesting facts to prove that dirt bikes are safer than most machines (if you keep to all safety rules)

  • About 60 percent of dirt bike riders died because they didn’t wear a helmet
  • Alcohol is responsible for 50 percent of fatalities
  • More than half of dirt bike injuries only are from racers (which means that normal dirt bike riders are less prone to danger)

I know some people would disagree with me, but it all depends on which direction you take it. So, it’s up to you.

Dirt bikes are very durable

An advantage that I really like about dirt bikes is that they are very resistant to falls. Therefore, when you crash and abuse your dirt bike, nothing is likely to happen to the dirt bike.

Cons of dirt bike

Dirt bikes are illegal on the road

In my opinion, the biggest downside of dirt bikes is that they are illegal for street riding, which only limits riders to riding in the field.

Also, in my opinion, it is important to know that you can make regular dirt bikes legal on the road but the downside of this is that it will cost you money. And even then, it is not really convenient because dirt bikes are not really suitable for riding on the road; their tires and wheels are not adapted to asphalt.

And although some individual dirt bikes are legal for road riding, they are also not good for riding on the road. So, you have two options.

You buy dirt bikes and ride them only off the road or if you want to ride both in the field and on the road, then the best option is to buy a dual-sport bike that allows riding both on the road and off-road. If you want to see more about these two types of bikes, you are free to click here to view the guide I wrote.

Dirt bikes are very expensive with regard to maintenance and cost

Dirt bikes are considered relatively expensive. Most new dirt bikes will cost between $8000 to $9000 but if you want to buy a used dirt bike, it will cost you $1000, which is still considered expensive.

And not only are dirt bikes expensive to purchase, but they are also more expensive to maintain than any machine you can think of, especially if you like riding dirt bikes often.

So, first of all, dirt bike tires cost an average of $500, and you only change them once a year. Additionally, insurance will cost almost $1,000. The riding gear costs an average price of $400. Fuel will cost at least $300. Repairs and parts, changing of oil and air filter, will reach an average price of $2500. So, maintaining a dirt bike is really crazy and not everyone can afford to buy a dirt bike.

It is easier to steal dirt bikes

Dirt bikes are very easy to steal because they are very expensive and impressive and most people desire to have one. Every year, tons of dirt bikes are stolen and the truth is, even your good buddies may want to steal your dirt bike from you. So, you must know how to protect your dirt bike.

Dirt bikes are very accessible and easy to steal so it will be your job to make sure no one touches your dirt bike. And if you wish to learn how to protect your dirt bike from thieves, feel free to click here to view the full guide that will show you how to keep your dirt bike from thieves.

Dirt bikes are very noisy

Another disadvantage of dirt bikes is that they make so noise from their engine. Yeah, the disadvantage of a noisy engine is when you wish to ride around the city or neighborhood or in your yard. So, it’s important to take that into account.

Dirt bikes are less suitable for winter riding

Unfortunately, dirt bikes are weather-sensitive, especially in winter. They are very slippery and unsafe when riding in the rain and wintry weather, and the fact that dirt bikes can ride in the rain does not mean that they are really suitable for the weather.

In fact, rain and winter can destroy internal parts of dirt bikes that are very water-sensitive. So, it is not recommended to ride dirt bikes in winter. ATVs, for example, are more rain- and winter-resistant compared to dirt bikes.
