1. Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition ($25,399)

The Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition is, in my opinion, the best UTV in the market today for off-road riding, and for mud riding, it is just amazing. I haven’t found any UTV that can manage to reach the Polaris RZR XP when it comes down to mud riding. It is simply beast and is designed for mud and for any tough terrain you just want to ride.

In addition, the Polaris RZR XP 1000 has so many crazy features that will shock you, especially when riding in mud. It knows how to handle mud in the best way, and in fact, this UTV is specially designed for mud riding and is just crazy.

Price

The Polaris RZR XP 1000 is sold for about $25,399 which is, of course, very expensive, but guess what? It is perfect for long term maintenance especially if you are the type that likes to abuse UTV.

Plus I really wouldn’t recommend you buy it for second hand because it’s very rare to find used Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition models that are still in good shape. I recommend buying it new if you really have the money and if your main plan is riding in the territories and in difficult places. If not, take a look at more excellent UTV models that is cheaper which will be mentioned later in this post.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The Polaris RZR XP 100 is just perfect for off-road and trail riding. It offers a crazy 999cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke twin-engine, a mill that makes 110 horsepower that manages to reach very impressive speeds of over 70 mph.
  • In addition, the Polaris RZR tires are insanely massive 29.5-inch Outlaw II on 14-inch aluminum wheels that they just do a perfect job and can pass from the deepest mud pits and through any obstacles in a very impressive way.
  • What surprised me the most about the Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition is the comfort it provides when riding. Its seats provide a 90-degree seating angle and the HL’s raised suspension provides excellent comfort in 3 seats.

Opinion

In my opinion, the Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition is definitely the best UTV for riding in the field and especially in muddy areas. This UTV is very expensive and know that its maintenance is also expensive in the long run. So, I will only recommend it for those that can afford its price and for those that really need a crazy machine for mud riding. Otherwise, it is better to go for other cheaper UTV.

2. Can-Am Maverick Trail 1000 DPS ($13,099)

The Can-Am Maverick Trail 1000 is one of the best and leading UTVs you can find in the market. The best thing about this UTV is that it costs a lot less than most UTVs on the list while showing great performance on the ground and also gives great value. In my opinion, it is the best UTV you can buy and find from Can-Am.

Price

You can buy the Maverick Trail 100 for about $13,099 which is very cheap compare to its excellent performance and value. It is also cheaper for long-term maintenance.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The Maverick Trail 1000 is simply a perfect trail riding machine, it can ride in any area you want, such as between mountain, in forest dunes or anywhere else and is very comfortable and stable for riding, especially because of its 12.5-inch aluminum wheels.
  • I was also very impressed with its powerful four-stroke engine which is a 976 cc V-Twin rated at 75 horsepower and its Fuel Transfer System (EFI) that works superbly and smoothly without any problems in the trails.
  • The Can-Am Maverick Trail 1000 also features great long-distance riding due to its 5.3-gallon engine for onboard storage that holds space for up to 300 kilograms of gear to lug any useful equipment for long-distance riding such as food. So, the Maverick is great for long-distance riding and adventure.

Opinion

In my opinion, the Can-Am Maverick Trail 1000 is great for anyone who wants a good and cheap UTV for long-distance rides and adventures. So, I highly recommend it for anyone that can afford it.

3. Polaris RZR 900 ($14,799)

The Polaris RZR 900 is a lesser version of RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition and is also sold at a much lower price.

The Polaris RZR 900 was released in 2009, and since then, Polaris has made very significant changes in the UTV, which makes the Polaris RZR 900 among the best monsters in the UTV market and very excellent and effective in riding all types of trails.

Price

You can buy the Polaris RZR 900 for $14,799 which in my opinion is a great price providing great value.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The Polaris RZR 900 introduces a very powerful and strong engine, and the good news is that Polaris has revamped its engine to a new ProStar Liquid-cooled, 8-valve, DOHC 4-stroke with 75 horsepower that is very easy to maintain and does not need a lot of fuel which makes it very economical.
  • In addition, what I like most about the Polaris RZR 900 is its ability to be durable in any area you want to ride. It can perfectly handle any area you want to ride, even though weighing 1,176 lb, the Polaris RZR 900 still manages to be very agile and fun to ride.
  • Another thing that impressed me about the Polaris RZR 900 is the comfort it provides when riding. Although its seats and overall building style are very similar to that of RZR XP 1000, there is enough space for legs and much space between seats as well as its very comfortable cushion which makes it very fun to ride.

Opinion

In my opinion, the Polaris RZR 900 is by far the best UTV you can find for trail riding. It also excels in the field because it can run perfectly on any terrain, easy to ride, comes with a very nice design and provides a powerful engine. So, if you really want to get a cheap Polaris UTV, then the Polaris RZR 900 is definitely a great option for you.

4. YXZ1000R SS SE ($20,699)

The YXZ1000R SS SE is one of my favorite UTV and is a very big competitor of The Polaris RZR XP 1000 High Lifter Edition. It is sold for a relatively low price and is an amazing UTV you can find on the market for trail riding.

At first, the YXZ1000R can be seen as the best UTV for trail riding. While many say it is the best, it all depends on you. If you love that the YXZ1000R has a very unique performance and riding style that makes you see it as the best, it may be and may not.

Price

The YXZ1000R SS SE costs about $20,699 which in my opinion is very lucrative for this Yamaha because it’s crazy, and believe me, it’s worth its price.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The YXZ1000R SS SE is simply a crazy monster that comes with a powerful and very strong 998cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline three-cylinder engine, 12 valves that provide great speeds and power and at the same time perform effectively in both slow and high speeds.
  • In addition, the YXZ1000R SS SE is extremely durable in all respects and can mount you even in the deepest water and deepest mud pits without any problem. It’s crazy, a big thanks to the 29th Maxxis Bighorn tires as well as the power steering system that helps a lot.
  • Another feature that makes the YXZ1000R SS SE does better than its competitors is the ability to let the rider have full control over it even though it rides at high speeds. Thanks to the gear system that just gets much better every year, the two-cylinder brake system and the large 255mm rotors that do an excellent job.

If you are interested in seeing the full review of the YXZ1000R SS SE, I highly recommend you click here.

Opinion

In my opinion, the YXZ1000R SS SE is one of the best UTVs in the market today, not just for road or field riding but for other means and purpose it provides. Buy the YXZ1000R SS SE if you really need a monster UTV while you also need to be a very good and advanced rider because it can be dangerous to ride it in the trail if you are not an expert.

5. Polaris ranger 800 XP ($11,199)

The POLARIS RANGER 800 XP is, of course, a lot less powerful UTV than most UTVs on the list, but at times, it has its reason for that. Not everyone can afford the expensive UTVs on the list, and sometimes, less performance can be better for some people.

The POLARIS RANGER 800 XP is a relatively good UTV and optimized for road and field riding. It is not crazy in performance and that is precisely why it is perfect for older or even elderly ones because they want to ride a good UTV in the field and on the trails and being safe while riding and of course, without paying tons of money.

Price

The POLARIS RANGER 800 XP is sold for $11,199, but considering that the RANGER 800 XP is not designed for crazy riding, it means that most people who ride it don’t use it roughly, allowing you to buy it used and there are loads of models sold at a very cheap price and so well worth it. So, you need to check out the option of buying it used.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The POLARIS RANGER 800 XP features an excellent engine that gives good enough performance that you can enjoy and, at the same time, being safe. It comes with a 760cc Liquid-Cooled 4-stroke Twin Cyl 46h which delivers a very nice maximum speed of up to 53 MPH/85.3 km.
  • In addition, it is quite surprising that the POLARIS RANGER 800 XP is even safe when riding at night because it provides excellent headlight lighting that illuminates the entire area by the way. The headlights have a layer of protection from rock, stone or tree, which is very lacking in most UTVs, causing the headlights to ruin.
  • A very big advantage of the POLARIS RANGER 800 XP is that it is very easy to climb up and down from because of the lack of brackets on the sides, which means that older people that find it difficult to get on UTV can get down and up very easily from this UTV.

Opinion

In my opinion, the POLARIS RANGER 800 XP is definitely an excellent UTV for older people who want to ride and stay safe on trails and enjoy themselves.

6. Polaris RZR RS1 ($14,999)

The Polaris RZR RS1 is another model I would like to show you from Polaris, and it certainly shows very impressive performance. Its only difference from the rest of the Polaris models is that it has a single seat, not two like the other models. So, it depends on preference because while some people like to ride alone, some do not.

In addition, the Polaris RZR RS1 presents very great advantages over other Polaris models because it is relatively cheap and this is as a result of the one seat it has and the narrower dimensions and compactness it exhibits. This is a very big advantage over other models, and in fact, it is good as the other Polaris models that are expensive.

Price

The Polaris RZR RS1 costs $14,999 which is a very low price compared to other Polaris models, and the best thing is that the RZR RS1 still manages to give the same performance as other expensive models.

You need to understand that it is discounted because it has one seat and smaller dimensions, which makes it lower in production.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The RZR RS1 has a very powerful and strong ProStar 999cc liquid-cooled, 8-valve, DOHC engine that does a great job not only in the RS1 but in general for all Polaris models and gives you the crazy riding power that will make you enjoy.
  • In addition, my favorite thing about the RZR RS1 is its beautiful design. It is beautiful than all other Polaris models because it comes in a variety of colors, blends together a very high-quality design and possesses a stiff and strong chassis and excellent frame to make it very resistant for trail riding.
  • The RZR knows how to handle and cope with tough terrain, especially with the base wheels of 83 and weight of 1340 pounds, which also makes it stable and balanced even at the highest speeds, and which is very impressive.

Opinion

In my opinion, the RZR RS1 is one of the best UTVs in the market today for off-road and trail riding and if you do want to get the power of Polaris in UTV at a low price and you prefer to get UTV with one seat, then the RZR RS1 is the best option for you.

7. Wildcat XX ($20,499)

The Wildcat XX is one of the best UTVs in the world and is also undoubtedly very good and outstanding in trail riding because Textron has teamed up with loads of new engineers and technologies from other UTVs brands to develop the Wildcat XX.

The Wildcat XX can probably be chosen as the number 1 UTV for riding in the field. Yes, just because it is perfect and provides everything needed by an advanced rider. It is also very fun to ride; you just enjoy while riding even for a few hours.

Price

The Wildcat XX costs about $20,499 which is expensive in my opinion mainly because it is very powerful and gives great value. You also have the option of buying it used if you want.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • The Wildcat XX engine is just crazy, built with Yamaha’s Liquid-Cooled, 4-Stroke Inline Triple Cylinder Dual Overhead Cam, 998cc. This engine delivers incredible power and the truth is that it is generally designed for more difficult purposes than riding trails.  Arctic Cat also helps in manufacturing this engine, which gives even more power and reliability to the engine.
  • In addition, the Wildcat XX is very easy to control while riding because it has a very large (40 percent) reduction in track width upfront, which greatly helps in control and stability when riding.
  • The Wildcat XX can ride wherever you want, even in the snow. Its 30 x 10 x 15 inches tires do an amazing job, and in general, all its features and collaborations that Textron did with other UTV companies just made the Wildcat XX a monster that even the biggest companies can hardly produce its type.

Opinion

In my opinion, the Wildcat XX is definitely one of the best UTVs on the list but you have to be a very professional and high-level rider to handle this UTV.

8. Hisun Strike 1000 EPS ($13,999)

The Hisun Strike 1000 EPS is the best and most sporty UTV that Hisun has ever produce and it offers a lot of great performance with very new technologies like the new EPS. I really like the Strike 1000 EPS and I think it can be a great option if you want a UTV for trail riding.

In addition, it is important to note that Hisun is one of the best and leading companies in the market simply because it provides a lot of technology to the bests UTV companies in the market.

Price

The Strike 1000 EPS is sold for about $13,999 which is very affordable and may not have been as crazy as the other UTVs at higher prices but it is enough for trail riding and will temporarily keep you safe while riding.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

  • First, strike 1000 EPS has an excellent engine a 976 cc Liquid-cooled, 4-valve, SOHC 4-stroke V-twin that makes 65 horsepower and can reach high speeds of over 70 km (43 mph) at high and low speed of 50 km.
  • Second, the biggest advantage in my opinion that Strike 1000 EPS has is undoubtedly its ability to cope with mostly rocks and stones superbly. Thanks to its 13-inch ground clearance and its tire and caster wheels.
  • Another very big advantage of the Strike 1000 is that it can tow very heavy equipment up to 1200 pounds (544 kg) which is very impressive.

Opinion

In my opinion, the Strike 1000 is one of the most affordable UTVs you can find for its money. It is sold at a very high price but gives so many technological innovations and excellent specifications so that if you want a relatively cheap UTV for trail rides, then the Strike is by far the best option for you.

9. John Deere RSX860i ($12,299)

The John Deere RSX860i is a very compact and less powerful UTV than the other UTV on the list, and that is exactly why it is excellent for beginner riders that want to start riding on the trail. Beginner riders who want to start riding on the trail do not need a strong UTV simply because they are beginners and they lack riding skills.

So, the John Deere RSX860i is, in my opinion, the best option for new riders that want to start trail riding.

Price

The John Deere RSX860i is sold for an excellent price of about $12,299 which is very lucrative. Buying it used can also be a great option.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

The John Deere RSX860i features a superb V-Type 4 stroke 839 cc engine that reaches speeds of 7750 rpm and 60 mph which is very nice while also having a removable trunk door and laces which is very useful. It also rides in the trails and all-terrain in a great way.

Opinion

In my opinion, John Deere RSX860i is the best UTV for beginner riders and I would highly recommend you buy its used model because its used model is sold very cheap and in good condition.

10. Can-Am 2019 Maverick X3 X RS Turbo R ($28,999)

I intend to mention this last because it is one of the best and as most people would say, ‘it is the best UTV in the world from a performance standpoint.’ Yes, it is, a crazy UTV that will show you some of its amazing performance.

The Can-Am 2019 Maverick X3 X RS Turbo R is by no means the most expensive model on the list. It is very crazy and you definitely have to put in years of experience in riding to ride this UTV because if you are not a good rider to some extent, it’s very dangerous for you to ride.

Price

The Maverick X3 X RS Turbo R is sold for a very high price of about $28,999 which makes it not only the most expensive UTV on the list but also one of the most expensive UTV in the world and it also requires lots of money on maintenance. So, you only buy it if you really want a monster UTV to ride on the trails and of course, you must be ready to invest in its price.

Notable features & why it is a good UTV for trail riding

The Maverick X3 X RS Turbo R introduces a turbocharged, liquid-cooled, 12-valve 900 cc engine that delivers 172 horsepower and a crazy speed range of over 80 km (50 mph). It is also very agile to ride in any terrain amazingly and is very durable.

If you want to see the full review of the Maverick X3 X RS Turbo R, I highly recommend you click here.

Opinion

In my opinion, the Maverick X3 X RS Turbo R is definitely a fantastic UTV and you should only buy it because you really want a crazy model for racing and you also have to be very professional and a high-level rider, so you must consider both.
